3 Topics To Cover During Effective Meetings

Meetings are an important part of managing and building a house.

Each meeting should be effective, making sure that all the bases have been touched.

Here are 3 extremely important points that NEED to be discussed In EVERY meeting ⬇️

  1. Progress.

  2. Issues needing to be solved.

  3. How can your team improve progress?

These quick points should get your team on the same page and create awareness of what has been and needs to be done.

A Better Way To Build

The USGBC has created a green build rating system called LEED

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Is the most widely used green building rating system. It’s certification provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings!

LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement, and is backed by an entire industry of committed organizations and individuals wanting to change the way we build.

LEED is for all building types and all building phases including new construction, which is what we are focusing on.

Homes that are LEED certified are designed, constructed and operated to stand the test of time, which helps the builder, the owner, and the overall value of your product for years to come.

3 things that LEED leads in (pun intended) 👇🏻

Health: LEED homes are designed to maximize indoor fresh air and minimize exposure to airborne toxins and pollutants, making it healthier and more comfortable.

Savings: LEED homes use less energy and water, which equals savings! Overall, these homes are more energy efficient by 20 to 30 percent.

Value: With a proper plan and a good crew, LEED homes can be built for the same cost as a non-green homes. They can also qualify for tax breaks, discounted homeowners insurance and other incentives. Bonus: In some markets, certified green homes can sell for more money 🤑

More Than A Shelter

Homes are the most important places in our lives, and they should be built to fit that part. LEED offers a great 3rd party verification that affirms the integrity of the home and gives validation to your customer that they are getting a house that saves energy, water, and reducing overall environmental impact, guaranteed!

Your Reputation Is Your Most Important Asset

The Author of a great book, “Atomic Habits” shared this idea in one of his newsletters…

“Your reputation is your most important asset. It precedes you before you walk into the room and lingers long after the work is done.”

Wow.

So how can YOU as a builder, build and keep a reputation that you are proud of?

Here’s my approach:

  • Be diligent

Just showing up to work from 9-5 is not diligence. Having excellent attention to every detail and making a point to fix problems and answer questions as they arise are two simple ways to incorporate diligence into your workflow..

  • Be proud of the work you do

Remember it’s your name on the job… If you aren’t proud of the work that you’ve done, what makes you think the client will be? It’s always good to take a step back and check your work. If something looks off, take the time to fix it…

  • Just remember, short cuts are long cuts

In most cases, if there’s a short cut, it’ll end up being a long cut. Don’t cut corners because you want save a buck or leave work early. Do it right the first time. I promise, you’ll thank me later.
